Craft Beer Pub Guide: Barristers

Tucked away in the leafy suburbs of Newlands, Barristers is a pub in the truest sense of the word. With a rich history and close proximity to the stadium, it has become a staple for locals and a tradition for avid sport fans.

Inside Barristers, you’ll find beautiful wooden bar that looks out onto a contemporary and relaxed seating area. If the weather is nice, there is also a very spacious deck which offers umbrellas and tranquil views of the surrounding neighbourhood. There is also a more formal seating area for a quieter dining experience.

If you’re looking for a meal, any time of day, Barristers is the perfect spot. Breakfast is served until 1300, and their lunch special draws massive crowds. From your standard pub fair to gourmet dishes, burgers to Karoo lamb, the menu is extensive and is sure to have something for everyone.

The craft beer selection includes Devil’s Peak and some of your other local favourites. There’s also the standard SAB spread, full bar and massive wine list. On the first Friday of every month, Barristers takes a delivery of Castle from Newlands Brewery by horse drawn cart. It’s something to see, so make a plan to check it out!
