Cool Beer Moment: The Beer Car
Petrol-heads and historians alike will attest that the Concorso D’Eleganza at Villa D’Este is a pretty big deal. If Lake Como wasn’t beautiful enough, this is the place that George Clooney calls home, then Europe’s rich and famous show up in their finery to celebrate the world’s most beautiful cars.
Our favourite wasn’t the Bugatti Veyron, Maserati 6C 34, Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato or the Aston Martin DBS Coupé Centennial, but an old beemer with a beer keg in the back.
Okay, fine, it wasn’t just any old beemer, but we really didn’t expect to see the owner of a classic BMW 502 pouring draughts from the mobile beer keg in his boot.
The Baroque Angel was the first car to be manufactured and sold by the Bavarians after the Second World War. And so what better way to celebrate this car by converting it into a bar, and serving Germany’s other major contribution to the world – beer – at the biggest classic car show in the world.
