South African Craft Beer Pub Guide: Craft

Craft

Craft Stellenbosch

With its thriving student community and historical wine culture, Stellenbosch was long overdue for a dedicated craft beer bar. In April of 2014, “Craft – Wheat & Hops” opened its doors to answer the demands of a discerning populous.

Their extensive selection of beer, tapas and flammkuchen has turned Craft into one of Stellenbosch’s premier spots to meet with friends for a few pints.

Located on Andringa Street, Craft’s indoor/outdoor space is warm, inviting and comfortable. Think gastropub meets wine farm. It’s a fantastic combination that makes you linger for, “Just one more pint.”

Tasting trays make it easy to try multiple breweries in one sitting, but beer isn’t the only thing on the menu. Craft also stocks a full bar with everything from top shelf whisky to local wines. No matter what you’re drinking, the food pairs beautifully and the knowledgeable staff are always happy to make recommendations.

Our Top DPBC Beer and Food Pairing: Flammkuchen (Parma Ham & Chives) with First Light Golden Ale

While there are a myriad of ingredients to put on your Flammkuchen (all of which look to be absolutely delicious), parma ham has got to be at the top of the list. And what better to pair with smoky slices of pork than the malty sweetness and crisp finish of a First Light Golden Ale? If you’re looking for your hop fix, grab a Blockhouse with some ribs!
